Welcome to SteveWelk.com, the official website of racecar driver Steve Welk. Steve Welk has been involved in motorsports for 17 years after starting his driving career at the age of eight.
The purpose of SteveWelk.com is to introduce you to a racecar driver who might someday walk in the footsteps of the greatest champions of motorsport. One of the brightest of racing's next generation of drivers, Welk has been labeled as a “can't miss” talent by knowledgeable motorsports insiders.
More important, Welk is prototypical of the new breed of racer, a person as comfortable dealing with people as he is driving at the limit. In 2008, the SCCA race winner will join the new UMW Motorwerks as the team moves up to the Playboy MX-5 Cup series. The UMW Team, formed from UEMSI Motorwerks, is taking on a new challenge after a successful 07 campaign in the SCCA Spec Miata category. After turning heads in his Star Mazda Championship debut, Welk will also look to join John Walko Racing for a limited schedule in 2008 to try to capture a Star Mazda victory.
More than just racecar driver, Welk has developed several skills in the motorsports world. After receiving a marketing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Steve established his own motorsports company called Linear Sport. Linear Sport specializes in driver development and race-team management. In addition to running Linear Sport, the Wisconsin native is an instructor at the Skip Barber Racing School, and the P.R. manager for an SCCA club and vintage racing team, ArmsUp Motorsports.
